Who we are
Bastard’s Leather… What is it? Where did it come from?
Bastard’s Leather started from an idea and a simple conversation with friends.
On April 1st 2025 I was presented with an idea, a problem and a solution at the same time. Lisa Endicott, at The Bow Rack, was the one who and probably unknowingly, presented all this. With the idea, the problem and solution in hand, we needed a name. A counsel of friends was convened. The name, much like the Marine Corps itself, was born in a bar. What started as a simple question after few drinks, “Nate, what did they call you guys in the Marine Corps? Bastards or something?”….
“Yeah man, our unit, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, was called The Magnificent Bastards.” That simple question started a connection between the past and present. Marines, Bastards, and Leathernecks. It was hard to deny the connection between my personal history, the history of the Marine Corps, and our unit specifically. Leather Craft and Leathernecks seemed to fit well together…
The name was decided on… “Bastard’s Leather LLC” was born 2025. By June 21st 2025 I had our flagship Pocket Quiver to Lisa Endicott at The Bow Rack. Lisa & Wayne are mentioned in this company “About Us” because of thier great support and willingness to take a risk on random “Bastard”. Thanks Lisa & Wayne Endicott, for your support, kindheartedness, and good ol’ American handshake dealings, they do not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
And to all the other shops who have joined the ranks of Bastard’s, we are forever grateful and would not be here without you.

2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, The Magnificent Bastards History.
A little more information behind the name and why I would say it is one of the most coveted call signs in the Marine Corps…
The 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines (2/4) earned the nickname "The Magnificent Bastards" during the Vietnam War, officially adopted by Battalion Order 5600.1B in September 1966, stemming from their tenacious fighting in fierce battles like the Battle of Dai Do, where they fought against overwhelming odds, embodying a spirit of tough, gritty success. The name reflects their extraordinary performance and determination, particularly under commanders like Lt. Col. "Bull" Fisher, who embraced the moniker for his resilient troops. Battalion Command subsequently dawned the callsign(s) “Bastard”. Battalion Co “Bastard 6”, Xo “Bastard 5”, OpsO “Bastard 3” and so on. 2/4 is the only unit in the Marine Corps allowed to use “Bastard” on the net.
Further detailed history of 2nd Bn, 4th Mar, 1st Mar Div can be found at Wikipedia (Its actually a pretty good write up, so far.)
